Description

Euphrasia rostkoviana (synonym Euphrasia officinalis), also known as eyebright or eyewort, is a herb that has been used in the traditional Austrian medicine internally as tea, or externally as compresses, for treatment of disorders of the eyes, eye infections, and the gastrointestinal tract.

Growing to around a foot tall, Euphrasia rostkoviana produces white blooms in summer. It is a semi-parasitic species that grows on the roots of various grass species. Growing in semi shade to no shade, Eyebright prefers alkaline soils but can tolerate mildly acidic soil types.
