Description
Common sorrel or garden sorrel (Rumex acetosa), often simply called sorrel. Other names for sorrel include spinach dock and narrow-leaved dock. Common sorrel has been cultivated for centuries. Sorrel leaves may be added to soups and sauces or into salads; they have a flavour that is similar to kiwifruit or sour wild strawberries. As an edible plant with diuretic properties, increased oxalic acid content, and a sweet ingredient, they are very similar to fruits with reddish crimson flowers.
