Description
Commonly known as thrift, sea thrift or sea pink, pink thrift or cliff clover. It can grow in dry, sandy, saline conditions such as coastal cliffs, grassland and salt marshes, salted roadsides and inland on mountain rocks. It is a common sight in British salt marshes and also does well in rock gardens. Flowering from late spring to late summer, pink thrift appear in a flush of flowers with a beautiful pink flower colour and leaves that resemble green grass in dense clusters.
Armeria maritima can grow up to around 19 inches tall if the conditions allow with relatively short-lived flowers from May to August. Grows best in sandy well-drained soil. Salt-tolerant.
