Aconitum napellus will handle both partial shade and sun well, but they do prefer moist, well-drained soil. Always wash your hands after handling monkshood or wear gloves.
You find many references in literature to monkshood being used to kill enemies. Do not grow this plant around young children or curious pets as it has a potent neurotoxin. That said, monkshood has been safely cultivated in gardens for hundreds of years. It is a lovely flower with attractive foliage, just use caution when handling it.
