Description
These aquatic plants are usually found in shallower water than the white water lily. The flower is solitary, terminal, held above the water surface.
Nuphar lutea plays an important role in wetland ecosystems. The large leathery leaves provide shade and shelter for aquatic organisms, while the yellow flowers serve as a source of sweet-smelling nectar for various insect species, including bees and butterflies. Additionally, the plant’s large root system helps stabilise aquatic soil.
