Description
Nymphaea ‘Perry’s Baby Red Water Lily’ is a compact water lily and aquatic perennial, ideal for small ponds, tubs, and water garden containers. This UK-grown aquatic plant produces rich red flowers and helps create healthy aquatic habitats by providing shade and shelter for aquatic wildlife, making it a valuable addition to any garden pond or water garden.
How to identify
This dwarf water plant has cup-shaped red flowers with yellow to orange centres, held just above the water surface in summer. New leaves emerge with a purple tint before turning green, forming rounded, heart-shaped pads that spread to around 30cm, making it easy to recognise among other aquatic plants.
How to grow
Plant Nymphaea ‘Perry’s Berry Red’ in aquatic compost in a mesh basket and position it in full sun in still water at water depths of approximately 15–45cm. It thrives in calm conditions, so avoid placing it near a pond pump or fountain, and it is perfectly suited to small ponds and container water gardens where space is limited.
