Also known as Scaly Male Fern, it is a robust semi-evergreen fern. It is most abundant in areas with high humidity, such as the British Isles. It commonly grows on moist soils in woodlands. Dryopteris affinis is a woodland plant type that enjoys light shade, no shade, or full sun. Dryopteris Fern is a very hardy low maintenance plant and can be grown in most soil types as long as they’re well-drained as it does not like to be kept in excess water.
