Primula elatior P Flowers 1 sided drooping umbel like cowslip but larger and pale yellow like small primroses. Peach scented on warm days. Flowers: April/May. Requires: Moisture retentive soil and semi-shade. Height: 10-30cm.

Description

As an early flowering plant this species provides nectar for early emerging bees and butterflies which will in turn pollinate the plant.  Oxlips were traditionally used to treat coughs and rheumatism, and they were thought to have antibacterial qualities.
