Description
Monkshood also known as tiger’s bane, or dogs bain also on occasion as Wolfs Bain but that is normally the yellow monkshood. Flowers late in summer either blue an sometimes white. Will handle both part shade and sun well but they do prefer moist well drained soil,
Always wash your hands after handling monkshood or wear gloves. You’ll find many references in literature to monkshood being used to kill enemies. Do not grow this plant around young children or curious pets. That said, monkshood has been safely cultivated in gardens for hundreds of years. It is a lovely flower, just use caution when handling it.
Plant so the top of the root is about 3cm (1″) below the soil line or 7cm deep (3″)
