Description

Cyperus sedge is a great marginal pond plant that grows to be around four feet tall. Found in the wild along banks of canals, rivers, bogs, and ponds – mostly in Northern England. Common names include hop sedge, as the pollen needed is brought by the wind from neighbouring Carex pseudocyperus plants. The flowered spikelets of green flowers emerge in late summer pushing through the grassy leaves and green foliage of this marginal plant.

Preferring wet soil, plant along margins of ponds to provide cover for wildfowl and other wildlife.
