Description

Also known as true comfrey, wild comfrey, Other English names include Quaker comfrey, cultivated comfrey, boneset, knitbone, consound, and slippery-root. Often found in Damp, often shady localities, in meadows, woods etc, especially near streams and rivers, Grows in moderately fertile, moist soil in sun or partial shade. Makes good ground cover across soil surface but can become invasive. A brown to iron dye can be obtained from the leaves of comfrey and has been used as a healing herb for muscle pain and joint pain in the past.

Comfrey plants are part of the borage family and have white flowers that sit on a bed of broad comfrey leaves.
