Description
This species is known as common comfrey or true comfrey. Other English names include Quaker comfrey, cultivated comfrey,boneset, knitbone, consound, and slippery-root. Histroicaly the leaves and roots were used to treat sprains, bruises or bone fractures.
Often this species needs to be planted just before the frost or needs a long period of cold for Stratification, so its seed dormancy can be overcome.
