How we produce our own seed and flowers - part two

Gravity Separator

Gravity separating helps to purify the seed sample after harvest, separating seed according to its density.

Seed Cleaner

The seed cleaner removes stalks, leaves and husks from the sample. 'this works by sieving and blowing the sample. It can also separate different shaped seeds of similar size, weight and density.

Filling the cold store

Once cleaned, seed is bagged and labeled and loaded into the cold store on racking.

Seed storage

Air temperature is maintained at <5°c. This helps to keep the seed for longer periods by preventing it from going moldy and/or germinating. It also eliminates pest attack as it's too cold for them to survive.
