N1 General Purpose Meadow Mixture N1 General Purpose Meadow Mixture
A mix of 15 native wildflower species (N1Flowers) and 6 species of grass (NVGrass). All the wildflower species in this mixture are fairly strong growing in comparison to other wildflowers, and therefore this mix is excellent on soils of high fertility where other wildflowers would not survive. This mix also represents a well balanced and inexpensive choice for any meadow project. With the correct management (principally the annual mowing and removal of cuttings) the fertility of the soil can be reduced to such a level that the introduction of other species; either by sowing or by planting plug plants can be considered.

Mix is 80% Grasses to 20% Wildflowers by weight.

A mix of 23 native wildflower species (N2Flowers) and 6 species of grass (NVGrass). The wildflower species in this mix grow on a wide range of soils and are chosen for their height, with the intention being that this mix be sown on areas which are only viewed from a distance, e.g the end of the garden, where smaller species of wildflowers would go unnoticed. As a consequence of their tall habit the wildflowers in the mix are well suited to fertile sites.

A mix of 16 native wildflower species (N3Flowers) and 10 species of grass (NSGrass), 3 of which are native (indicated by an N following the species name). The wildflower species in this mix grow on a wide range of soils and all flower early in the season, from April through to the end of June. The meadow should be mown off in about mid-July once the Yellow Rattle has been given the opportunity to seed. It can then be used for animal grazing, maintained at a height of 8-10cm for recreational purposes in the summer, or allowed to regrow giving a repeat flowering albeit less pronounced than in the spring.

As producers stocking over 200 species of wildflower seed, we are happy to provide quotes for any bespoke mixtures that are required.

If wildflowers native to a particular county are required we can normally come and harvest from a suitable donor site, dry and sort the sample to obtain a wildflower/grass mixture which can then be sown as needed.

Many native provenance grass species are available, meaning a completely native meadow mix can be provided.
